Dreamgenii® Pregnancy Support & Feeding Pillow
The patented dreamgenii® pregnancy pillow was born out of my need to get a good nights sleep when I was pregnant with my first child. I found it difficult to get comfortable as my pregnancy progressed and I was also conscious of the optimal positioning for the health and well being of my baby. I tried every pregnancy pillow on the market and none of them actually worked – the V Pillow was the wrong shape and didn’t fit comfortably under my bump, the bolster pillow was too big and took up the whole bed and the wedge pillow was really uncomfortable and pushed my bump into a really unnatural position.
All of them woke me up in the night when I wanted to move as I had to roll over with them to reposition myself and they usually ended up strewn on the floor by morning! I wanted to design something for myself that ensured that I was comfortable whilst taking into account the healthiest positioning for me and my baby. I also wanted to be able to use my pillow post birth as a feeding support (as many of my friends had shared their tales of back strain after using traditional pillows with no back support).
After 12 design attempts I had something that worked for me! I then started asking for feedback from various midwives and organisations as well as many pregnant friends and volunteers. The pillow was universally welcomed as a huge help for pregnant women.
We expanded the dreamgenii® range in 2009/10 and have successfully launched a further 3 unique, essential mother and children's comfort products which are centred around our ethos of providing a 'Magical Night's Sleep'. These include the Breastfeeding Pillow & Baby Nest which is proving to be a new mum essential, The Twinkle Tog Toddler Wearable Quilt - an essential for any toddler, and the Billy Winky.
The dreamgenii® pregnancy pillow is now sold in most major UK high street retailers and independent nursery shops and is also sold in the USA, Middle East, Across South-East Asia, Cyprus, Portugal, Spain, Scandinavia, Belgium, Ireland, Australia and Japan.
The dreamgenii® Pregnancy Pillow has now been certifed by the European Medical Devices Directorate as a Class 1 Medical Device. It is used by thousands of women during pregnancy, as well as by NHS midwives, breastfeeding coordinators and in NHS delivery suites to provide comfort and support to pregnant women and new mothers.
